Please join the Sloane Society for Professor Luke Demaitre’s presentation, “A Personal History of Leprosy: From Books to Bones—and Bobby Brown” on Monday, February 20th. The event takes place at 12:10 pm in the Historical Collections room of the Health Sciences Library.
An expert on medieval medicine and Visiting Professor of History in the Center for Biomedical Ethics and Humanities, Professor Demaitre will speak about his experiences in historical and medical research. He will discuss how historical and interdisciplinary studies can enrich our understanding of modern medicine. Additionally, he will comment on the relevance of “medieval” and “exotic” diseases to medicine today.
